1801 First has accomplished much in a very short
time with almost all of our accolades coming from guests and through our guest
response cards. We have attained a 70%+ occupancy with virtually no advertising
and nary a piece of major press or premier guidebook review. Our success has
largely been "word of mouth.” Having ‘tweaked’ our product to appoint of pride,
we now feel quite comfortable presenting the inn to the media. Please be among
the first to discover this "under the radar” gem.
"From the complimentary 24-hour mini bar and the stylish but not stuffy bedrooms
to the comfy lobby complete with gas fireplace, it’s easy to see how the new
owners have embraced the challenge of creating something special.”
Napa Valley Register, 2003
"1801 Inn—a perfect fit for Napa. Couple adds spa-like resort feel to B&B
experience.”
Napa Valley Business Times, 2003
"Tom and Darcy Tunt have turned one of Napa’s Victorian mansions into a gorgeous
inn…the rooms are luxurious, romantic and comfortable.”
Vine Times, 2004
"The 1801 Inn in Napa, California is not your grandmother’s frilly,
old-fashioned B&B. Blending its stunning 1903 Queen Anne Victorian architecture
with upscale, sophisticated styling and décor, the inn’s sublime mix of
tradition and modernity is the work of innkeepers Tom and Darcy Tunt.”
Luxurylink.com, 2003
"1801 First…peaceful and luxurious. Similarities to classic B&B’s ends at the
door. For those like our writer, who find too many antiques and lacy décor to be
cloying, the inn is a refreshing and urbane departure. Clean colors, textures
and contemporary design combine with duvets, sateen linens, silky robes and spa
amenities to create a relaxing experience.”
Winecountry.com, 2004
"We LOVED it! The knowledgeable and friendly staff is unmatched and the comfort
level among guests suggests that we all had been interviewed and passed a
"friendliness” test to stay at the inn!”
Sandy Ketchem, 2004
"The massages were fantastic. I think the room setup and its décor made our stay
more comfortable. We appreciated the modern touches as opposed to other lacy
B&B’s.”
Amanda Murphy, 2004
"…the suite was amazing…we loved the bathtub, the décor, the fluffy bed and
luxurious sheets, the couples massage and the quaintness of the inn. We
especially loved that we got to know the other guests staying at the inn.”
Dina and Sean Mclaughlin, 2004
"It was one of our most enjoyable vacations. We plan on making the 1801 a
permanent choice when we visit Napa.”
Tony Scarcella and Dan Zegelien
"They’ve accomplished a perfect and unique blend of tradition with contemporary
amenities and services. It truly is an intimate retreat…”
Napa County Landmarks, 2002 (Holiday Candlelight Tour Guidebook)
