Chef's Bio

Breakfast at 1801 First has always been a highlight, but the addition of Chef Andrea Koweek has transformed the morning repast into another gourmet dining experience.

As a graduate of the California Culinary Academy, Andrea's first passion was baking and pastry. Later in her career she was fortunate to continue her education with an intensive cooking program in Southwest France. Her distinguished work experiences include baking in the pastry kitchens at the Pan Pacific Hotel and Postrio in San Francisco, recipe tester for John Ash's new cookbook, Cooking One on One as well as an extensive career as Culinary Manager at Ramekins Cooking School in Sonoma, California, where she worked with home cooks every day as they learned new skills. Other opportunities took her to French Laundry, as Chef Thomas Keller’s assistant as well as starting her own small business, Irresistible Eats, offering in-home personalized cooking lessons, personal chef services and catered events.

As chef at 1801, Andrea is fortunate to be able to bake and cook for a small group of eager guests each day, using as many local, organic ingredients as possible. The selections she offers can best be described as breakfast with a “gourmet twist.” She takes some traditional breakfast ingredients and presents them in a decidedly untraditional manner. Guests can choose from several options daily—including the “spa” or “indulgent” or for those on the run, the wine country continental buffet. Each is sure to please and delight and hopefully “awaken” the senses for a perfect start to a fabulous day in the wine Country!
